Helical & Push Pier Systems

When a Long Island foundation settles because the original footing sits on weak or poorly compacted soil, pier systems are the permanent engineered fix. Helical piers screw into stable strata below the problem zone and work well in the sandy soils common along Long Island's south shore. Push piers drive off the structure's own weight to reach deeper bedrock, making them the better choice in north shore clay conditions. We are a Supportworks-certified installing dealer, and every pier plan is PE-signed, load-tested to twice working capacity, and ICC-ES code-compliant. After installation, synchronized hydraulic jacks lift the structure back toward original elevation — doors close, cracks tighten, and floors level, typically over one to two days. The lifetime warranty transfers to new owners at no cost.

  • 01Supportworks-certified installing dealer — not a generic pier installer
  • 02ICC-ES code-compliant engineering, load-tested to 2× working capacity
  • 03Hydraulic installation to bedrock or load-bearing strata
  • 04Lifetime warranty, transferable to subsequent home buyers
  • 05Same-day structure lift back toward original elevation on most jobs

/// Process

4 Steps. No Theatre.

01

Assess

Elevation survey at footing corners to quantify settlement. Soil boring or probe to understand what we're piering through.

02

Engineer

Pier count, spacing, and depth calculated from load and soil. PE signs the plan before we mobilize.

03

Install

Hydraulic drive to load-bearing strata, each pier recorded to capacity. Brackets bolted to footing.

04

Lift

Synchronized hydraulic lift returning the structure toward original elevation. Doors and cracks close in real time.

/// Questions

FAQ.

01Helical vs push piers — which do I need?+
Helical piers work best in shallow installs and sandy south-shore soils; push piers handle deeper bedrock and north-shore clay. We pick based on soil boring, not inventory.
02Does my house get disturbed?+
Interior livable. We work from the exterior with a 3-foot-wide excavation per pier. Yard restoration included. Most 6-pier jobs finish in 2 days.
03How much does pier system installation cost on Long Island?+
Helical and push pier installation on Long Island runs $1,800–$3,000 per pier installed, with most residential settlement repair projects requiring 4–10 piers depending on the affected section of foundation. A typical 6-pier job runs $12,000–$18,000, including the PE-signed engineering plan, hydraulic installation, synchronized lift, and lifetime transferable warranty. Exterior excavation, backfill, and basic yard restoration are included. We provide a written fixed-price quote after the soil boring and elevation survey — no per-hour billing surprises.
04Do I need a permit for pier systems in Nassau or Suffolk County?+
Yes. Helical and push pier installations are structural repairs that require a building permit in Nassau and Suffolk County townships. The permit application requires a PE-signed engineering plan, which we provide as part of every job. Town of Hempstead, Town of Oyster Bay, Town of Smithtown, Town of Islip, and Town of Huntington all have specific requirements for structural foundation work. Our permit coordinator handles all filings and inspection scheduling. Permit turnaround is typically 3–6 weeks before work can begin.
05Will my doors and windows work properly after a pier lift?+
In most cases, yes — synchronized hydraulic lift brings the foundation back toward original elevation, which closes gaps, unsticks doors, and tightens stair-step cracks. Long Island homes that have settled 1–3 inches over decades typically see significant improvement in door and window operation within 24 hours of the lift. Cosmetic repairs (paint, drywall, tile regrouting) may still be needed after the structural lift — we note what to expect in the post-lift report.
